A common question we receive from homeowners, friends and family, is “How do I know when I need new doors and windows in my home?” or some similar variation of that question. We’re here today to answer this question in the best way possible, but of course all homes, doors, windows and projects are not the same, so some items may vary.
Is it time to replace doors in my San Diego home?
Well, that depends on a few different factors. First, it makes sense to replace a door if it is functionally broken. By that we mean a hinge that is broken or loose due to stripped screw holes on the door trim and lock entry strike point. If your door can’t properly open or close, or quickly comes out of any adjustment, it might be time for new doors.
Is it time to replace windows in my San Diego home?
Windows are a little more tough to determine when it’s time for replacement. In some instances, clients want old, outdated, window frame and windows themselves removed simply for aesthetic reasons. Other common reasons to replace windows in your home include windows that don’t close or open properly, or window framing that is falling apart. Framing of windows are common to have issues in San Diego, mostly due to termite infestations.
